I found this recording of my senior recital from 1986. The video quality was not good, but the sound is okay.
The English Suites, BWV 806–811, are a set of six suites written by the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach for harpsichord (or clavichord) and generally thought to be the earliest of his 19 suites for keyboard
I discovered the coolness of this Randy Crawford, Joe Sample cover in my morning dance routine, and decided to set it to some footage we had of Mukilteo, WA.
The original was written by Peter Gabriel, founder of Genesis in 1993 for the movie, Philadelphia.
It's not clear what the original meaning behind the lyrics is, but, speaking from my own experience, I'll share my reflections here:
We are all looking for and vulnerable to love.
Maybe you were emotionally abused, or feel unloved. Whatever caused you to head down a particular path probably had its origin in something you had no control over.
Unfortunately, there are rules, restrictions and conventions, that you didn't set yourself.
That doesn't mean you're not responsible for your behavior, or that you won't suffer the consequences as a result...
Oil and water don't mix. Add a storm, and you've got a mess.
Some messes or entanglements aren't worth the effort, to recover them. Some things in love can't be undone.
But, we can grow stronger - even in the shadows we and others create...
Where are you looking for love? Is it good for you?
Is it really what you need?
Love the way Randy & Joe season the outro with The Eurhythmic's line... "Sweet Dreams are Made of This..."
Thought Ryan's footage of the birds to cover the search of the seven seas was appropriate...
Hope this has some reflective value for you....
